Andrew Porter on Leonard Pennario

Andrew Porter was arguably the most influential writer on music of his time. He was editor of Musical Times, introduced music criticism to the Financial Times, served as the music critic for The New Yorker for 20 years, and reviewed for London's The Observer before joining the Times Literary Supplement, for which he now writes. It was he who originated the saying: "Nobody plays better than Pennario."
Thanks to Terry Coulton who visisted Edinburgh and searched through some 50+ year old newspaper files we can now bring you this famous review in its entirety. The Ravel and Prokofiev pieces referred to in this review are now available on CD for the first time. (See here )
